USING GMAIL INTERFACE

Some clients prefer the familiar interface of gmail – especially if they have been using it for their personal emails. While it is possible to sometimes get a third party email working through your existing gmail account, it can also be tricky to get the settings just right.

The settings below are intended as a general guideline and are subject to change, depending on gmail and how it updates its systems. If you have issues with the gmail interface setup, we recommend that you contact a Google technician for their assistance.

STEP 1: LOG INTO YOUR GMAIL ACCOUNT.

Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select SETTINGS from the drop down.

Click on ACCOUNTS AND IMPORT along the top of the settings window.

STEP 2: SET UP YOUR SENDING ACCOUNT

  • Under SEND MAIL AS, click ADD ANOTHER EMAIL ADDRESS YOU OWN
  • Fill in your Name and email address in the pop up
  • Turn OFF to TREAT AS AN ALIAS
  • Click the link to SPECIFY A DIFFERENT “REPLY TO” ADDRESS”
  • Put your second email address in this box as well (so it appears twice on this screen)
  • Fill in your SMTP server information
    • SMTP Server: Mail.yourdomain.com
    • Username: address@yourdomain.com
    • Password: your complex password
    • Select Port 25
    • Select TLS connection
  • Click ADD ACCOUNT
  • In the next screen, enter the confirmation code that has been emailed to your email account, and click VERIFY
  • On the settings screen, check on ALWAYS REPLY FROM THE SAME ADDRESS THE MESSAGE WAS SENT TO

STEP 3: SET UP YOUR RECEIVING ACCOUNT

  • Under CHECK MAIL FROM OTHER ACCOUNTS, click ADD A POP3 MAIL ACCOUNT YOU OWN
  • Fill in your email address
  • In the next window, fill in:
    • Your username: address@yourdomain.com
    • Password: your complex password
    • POP Server: Mail.yourdomain.com
    • Select Port 110
    • Check ON to LEAVE A COPY OF MESSAGES ON THE SERVER
    • Check ON to ALWAYS USE A SECURE CONNECTION (SSL)
  • Click ADD ACCOUNT

If the account was set up properly, the settings screen will give you a notice that Gmail is checking mail.

You can now access your email account inbox along the left side of the Gmail screen.

The goal of SiteWyze technicians is to ensure that your email account is running properly on our server. This is generally confirmed by logging into your webmail account (www.yourdomain.com/webmail). When using email software provided by another developer, we can assist with general account information only. Additional support would require accessing the software provider’s technical team.
