APPLE IPHONE/IPAD

You will need to know the following basic information provided to you about your email account.

  • Your email address
  • Your complex password
  • Your incoming & outgoing mail servermail.yourdomain.com

OPEN THE SETTINGS APP ON YOUR IPHONE.

  1. Tap the “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” tab.
  2. Tap “Add Account…
  3. Select ‘Other
  4. Select ‘Add Mail Account
  5. Enter the following information and click ‘next’
    1. Your Name
    2. Your FULL email address
    3. Your password: this is a complex password that has been provided to you.
    4. Description (used to identify this account from others that you may have set up on your phone)

COMPLETE THE NEXT SCREEN:

  1. Choose IMAP
  2. You’ll see that your name and email address have been filled in already from what you entered on the last screen.

COMPLETE THE REMAINDER AND SELECT ‘NEXT’:

  1. ‘Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server’:
    1. Host Name: mail.yourdomain.com
    2. Username: your FULL email address
  2. Password
    1. ‘Outgoing mail (SMTP) server’: mail.yourdomain.com
    2. You do not need to fill in the Username and password for the outgoing setting

YOU’LL NOW BE ASKED TO CHOOSE WHAT TYPES OF INFORMATION YOU WANT TO USE WITH THIS ACCOUNT.

Generally you’ll only have the option to get Mail and Notes. Mail will be turned on by default and notes will be turned off. If you want to store notes in this email account, change the slider to the on position.

TAP THE “SAVE” BUTTON TO FINISH THE SETUP.

Note: some iPhones will prompt you with a variety of pop ups while trying to verify. Simply select ‘ok’ or ‘continue’ for each of these. It may take a couple of times, but the account will take. If you get a password error, you can check your settings, and also check your password by verifying that you can log into your webmail account.

WHY DOES IT SAY MY EMAIL WAS “REJECTED BY THE SERVER BECAUSE IT DOES NOT ALLOW RELAYING” WHEN I TRY TO SEND IT?

If you try to send an email from your iPhone on iOS 8, or an earlier iOS for that matter, and get an error message that says “A copy has been placed in your outbox. The recipient was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying,” chances are you need to check your outgoing mail server settings. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendar and tap on your email account.
  2. Tap on “Account,” then go down to the “Outgoing Mail Server” section and tap on “SMTP.”
  3. Tap on your Primary Server.
  4. Even though it says “Optional,” fill out both user name and password under Outgoing Mail Server.
  5. Tap “Done” in the top right to save your changes.

The goal of SiteWyze technicians is to ensure that your email account is running properly on our server. This is generally confirmed by logging into your webmail account (www.yourdomain.com/webmail). When using email software provided by another developer, we can assist with general account information only. Additional support would require accessing the software provider’s technical team.
